Through your agent

Safeco is sold through independent agents, who can file and manage the claim with you.

The process

What to expect after you file.

  1. 01

    Report the loss

Call the claims line or contact your independent agent to open the claim, and note your claim number.

  2. 02

    A claim handler is assigned

Safeco assigns a claim handler or adjuster to manage your claim and walk you through the next steps.

  3. 03

    The damage is reviewed

A claims representative reviews the loss and your policy and arranges a review of the damage.

  4. 04

    Settlement, less your deductible

For covered losses, Safeco arranges payment, less your deductible, to you or your chosen provider.

Know your coverage

Understanding your deductible.

Your deductible is set in your own policy, not by the carrier, so there is no single number that applies to everyone. It is the amount you pay before coverage kicks in, and your settlement is paid out less that amount.

How we help

How iDri handles your Safeco claim.

First, the part that matters most. We work for you, not Safeco. Our job is to make sure your claim reflects the real damage, not the smallest number that closes the file.

Documented to standard

We document your Safeco loss to the IICRC standard, with moisture readings, photos and a defensible line item scope.

We deal with the adjuster

We communicate with your Safeco claim handler and speak their language, so the process moves and the scope holds.

Billed to Safeco directly

We bill Safeco directly for the covered work, so you are not floating the cost or chasing paperwork.

On your side

We work for you, not Safeco. Our job is to make sure your claim reflects the real damage.

We are a restoration contractor, not a public adjuster or an attorney. We document and bill your claim. For a coverage dispute, those professionals rely on exactly the kind of documentation we provide.

Questions

Safeco claims, answered.

What is the Safeco claims phone number?

Safeco, now part of Liberty Mutual, handles claims at 1-800-332-3226. Your independent agent can also file the claim with you.

How do I file a Safeco claim?

File by phone or online at safeco.com, and with the app where one is offered. Keep your first report factual, write down your claim number, and photograph the damage before any cleanup.

Does Safeco cover water damage?

Sudden and accidental water damage, like a burst pipe or a failed appliance, is typically covered. Gradual leaks, seepage and outside flooding usually are not, and flood needs a separate policy. Check your own policy, since coverage varies.

Do I have to use Safeco's preferred contractor?

No. In California you choose your own restoration company. Safeco can recommend a vendor, but the choice is yours, and you can choose iDri.

How long does Safeco have to handle my claim?

Under California's Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulations, your insurer must acknowledge the claim within 15 days and accept or deny it within 40 days of receiving the documentation it needs.
